WHAT IT’S ALL ABOUT

Reimagining the Revolution is a digital and literary project aimed at motivating meaningful involvement in movements for social justice.

REIMAGINING THE REVOLUTION: MEANINGFUL ENGAGEMENT IN THE FIGHT FOR SOCIAL JUSTICE is a rare, inside-access look at a diverse group of activists—those looking to go beyond marching and forging new paths toward progress. If you were one of the 26 million people who marched in support of Black Lives Matter, you may be wondering where those footsteps have taken us. While many came to the scene with outrage, some have remained to refocus that energy on the strategic dismantling of systems of oppression. This book is about four such strategies. Most books about the state of racial inequality in this country are “how did we get here” books. This is a “where do we go from here” book.

As “abolition” begins to enter mainstream activism, many are left wondering, OK but what now? How can we exist without prisons? How can we be safe without the police? While some books by movement leaders touch on why prison and police are “bad” solutions to punishment and safety, this project goes behind the scenes to profile leaders coming up with creative alternatives. There are no answers for “what comes next,” because they are still being designed. REIMAGINING THE REVOLUTION takes readers into some of those conversations and offers them a glimpse at the drawing boards.
